Six Arrested in Peacehaven After Criminal Damage Incidents

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with relevant information, such as CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage, to come forward following a series of criminal damage incidents in East Sussex.

Residents in Denton, Newhaven, Telscombe Cliffs, and Peacehaven reported damage to the walls and roofs of their properties overnight on Tuesday, June 11.

Six Arrested in Peacehaven After Criminal Damage Incidents

The following day, men posing as local builders offered to repair the damage, raising suspicions of potential fraud.

In response, Lewes Neighbourhood Policing Team and the Roads Policing Unit conducted patrols in the affected areas. On Wednesday, June 12, officers stopped two vehicles on the A259 in Peacehaven. Six men were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, theft, and fraud. They remain in custody at this time.

Police have thanked residents and motorists for their patience during the disruptions caused on the A259 during the arrests.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are keen to speak with anyone who may have been affected.
