Drivers on the M20 coastbound are facing significant delays following a serious crash that occurred earlier today.
The collision took place on the eastbound side of the motorway, between Junction 3 for the Addington Interchange and Junction 4 for Leybourne. Emergency services rushed to the scene to assist.
Currently, traffic is being held while emergency responders work at the site of the incident. While two lanes have since reopened, motorists are advised to expect delays of around 45 minutes, with congestion stretching back two miles.
National Highways has provided an estimate, suggesting that the road may not be fully cleared until 11 pm, and it could be well past midnight before traffic returns to normal.
As of now, there are no details available regarding any injuries sustained in the collision.
This incident adds to the frustrations of motorists navigating the roads today. Earlier, heavy congestion was reported on the A249 at Stockbury, exacerbated by ongoing flyover works reducing a busy slip road to just one lane.
