A man has been jailed for two years and eight months after numerous cannabis-based items were discovered in his property during a police raid in February this year.
Rowell Scott of Clively Avenue, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for money laundering and possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs at a hearing at Manchester Crown Court yesterday. He had earlier plead guilty to the offences.
Officers from GMP’s Challenger team executed the warrant at an address on Clively Avenue, Salford, on 15 February, following intelligence which had been gathered on the property.
After officers entered the property, Scott immediately confessed to having a quantity of cannabis in the wardrobe – which officers duly recovered. Scott added that “I’ve been caught red-handed”.
In addition, around 300 vapes containing THC were discovered, a small amount of crack cocaine and heroin, and £1,867 in loose cash. Various other drug paraphernalia, including scales and bags, were additionally recovered.
PC Anthony McClearn, from GMP’s Salford Challenger team, said: “Challenger’s work is all about disruption: disrupting criminals who flood the streets with drugs, causing untold hurt, pain and damage to communities.
“By conducting regular work, including warrants, intelligence gathering, and working with partners, we can ensure that we do our absolute best to keep harmful drugs out of the hands of vulnerable people.
“A lot of our work depends on people in the community coming forward – and we are always grateful for any tip-offs people may have. You can contact police on 101, via gmp.police.uk, or by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
