The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team is gearing up for the 8H SPA EWC Motos, a special event that holds significance for both the team and its fans. Taking place at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, this race promises excitement and challenges for the riders.
Home Race for BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team
Team Manager Werner Daemen, a Belgian native, considers the 8H SPA EWC Motos as a crucial race. Currently third in the world championship standings after Le Mans, the team aims to secure a good result to keep their title hopes alive. With only four races in the season, every opportunity counts. Daemen emphasises the importance of staying on two wheels, especially in an 8-hour endurance race where any mistake can be costly.
The #37 BMW M 1000 RR
The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team will field the #37 BMW M 1000 RR, ridden by Markus Reiterberger (GER), Ilya Mikhalchik (UKR), and Sylvain Guintoli (FRA). Hannes Soomer (EST) completes the quartet as the fourth rider. The team’s recent success includes a podium finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and they aim to continue their winning streak at Spa-Francorchamps.
Superstock Class and Private Teams
In the FIM Endurance World Cup’s Superstock class, the Tecmas-MRP-BMW Racing Team will compete with the #9 BMW M 1000 RR. Kenny Foray (FRA), Jan Bühn (GER), and Loïc Arbel (FRA) will ride the bike, with Soomer also joining as the fourth rider. Additionally, private Team Étoile will be part of the action at Spa.
Spa-Francorchamps: A Historic and Challenging Track
Spa-Francorchamps is known for its unique track layout through the Ardennes forests. The weather can change rapidly, adding an extra layer of challenge for the riders. The race duration has been shortened to eight hours from the previous 24, but the special characteristics of the circuit remain. The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team is well-prepared for the second round of the 2024 FIM EWC, aiming to collect valuable points for the championship standings.
