Darts Fans Left Stunned by ‘Disgusting’ Beer Prices as They Watch Luke Littler’s Incredible Premier League Final Win at The O2

Darts fans were left outraged at the ‘disgusting’ beer prices at The O2 during the Premier League Darts final on Thursday night. As they watched 17-year-old sensation Luke Littler claim victory, they were confronted with eye-watering prices at the bar.

The cheapest pint at the London venue was priced at £8.95, including lagers Budweiser and Stella Artois, as well as Camden Stout. More premium beers, such as Camden Pale Ale and Camden Hells Lager, were even higher at £9.25 and £9.50, respectively. Cider options were similarly priced, with Thatchers Gold at £8.95 and Thatchers Fusion at £9.25.

The high prices sparked outrage on social media, with one user on X, formerly known as Twitter, commenting: “Those prices are very steep… disgusting really, especially served in plastic beakers.” Another added, “Disgusting prices them,” while a third remarked, “Well, at least if you buy two, you only get to pay twice the price.

Another fan pointed out the rationale behind the pricing strategy: “They have a captive audience of clowns whose rationale for attending the event is to turn up in fancy dress, drink industrial quantities of overpriced beer and chant inane songs while watching the action on a huge screen. Manna from heaven for the O2.”

Despite the expensive drinks, fans enjoyed a thrilling final, where Littler triumphed over rival Luke Humphries with an 11-7 victory. The young darts star also hit an incredible nine-darter en route to his win, securing his first televised title and a prize of £275,000.

In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Littler expressed his joy and addressed his critics: “For all the doubters, you’re not doubting me any more! I’ve just picked up this. It’s so good to win but in front of my family and my girlfriend! I don’t know what to do. I’ve hit a nine-darter on the World Series and so did Phil [Taylor] – now I’ve hit one in the final here and so did he.”

While Littler’s performance was a highlight for fans, the high cost of refreshments remains a sore point. One fan summarized the sentiment: “Disgusting prices considering how everyone will chuck their pints in the air.”

As fans left the arena, the debate over the high prices continued, overshadowing what was otherwise a night of top-tier darts action.
