Firefighter Grady from Heston Fire Station has been honoured with an Assistant Commissioner’s Certificate of Commendation for his exemplary commitment to public safety and lifesaving efforts. The commendation was presented at the London Fire Brigade’s recent Commendations presentation.
The accolade recognizes Firefighter Grady’s decisive actions while off-duty. On his way home from a night shift, Grady encountered a car accident where a driver had suffered a cardiac arrest. Demonstrating the exceptional presence of mind and training, he immediately initiated Basic Life Support (BLS), ensuring the driver’s airway was clear and performing chest compressions.
In addition to administering first aid, Grady organized bystanders to maintain safety at the scene and effectively communicated crucial information to the arriving London Ambulance Service (LAS) team. His swift and professional response was instrumental in the successful resuscitation of the individual, who was subsequently transported to the hospital and discharged two days later.
The commendation presentation was a special moment as Firefighter Grady was accompanied by his wife and the individual whose life he saved, underscoring the profound impact of his actions.
We are immensely proud of Firefighter Grady,” said the Assistant Commissioner. His quick thinking and dedication exemplify the best of our service and highlight the critical role that firefighters play in our communities, even when off duty.
The London Fire Brigade extends its heartfelt congratulations to Firefighter Grady for his outstanding service and commitment to the safety and well-being of the public.
