In the ongoing investigation into the stabbing and shooting incident on Whalebone Lane South, Dagenham, a third individual has been charged. A 17-year-old teenager is set to appear at Barkingside Youth Court on Monday, May 20, facing multiple serious charges including attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Metropolitan Police officers apprehended the teenager in Birmingham on Friday, May 17, following diligent efforts to track down those involved in the disturbing incident.
This development comes after two other teenagers, also aged 17, were previously arrested in the Ashford area of Kent on May 10. They were brought to London for questioning and subsequently charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
The pair appeared at Barkingside Youth Court on May 13 and were remanded in custody until their next appearance at the Old Bailey scheduled for June 10.
The incident, which prompted a swift response from law enforcement and emergency services, occurred on Thursday, May 2, at approximately 17:20hrs. Reports initially indicated a stabbing, followed by gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, officers and paramedics discovered a 19-year-old man with apparent stab wounds and gunshot injuries. He was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where medical professionals confirmed the severity of his condition. The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition, with his next of kin notified.
Previously, five men and a woman, ranging in age from 18 to 25 years old, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They have since been released on bail as detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Trident) continue their thorough investigation.
