An off-duty officer from Cheshire Police has been nominated for the National Police Bravery Awards 2024 after his heroic intervention to rescue a member of the public from two armed assailants.
PC Aaron Jackson demonstrated remarkable courage and selflessness when he came to the aid of an 18-year-old man who was being chased and threatened by two individuals wearing dark clothing. The incident occurred on July 26, 2023, when PC Jackson, driving past, noticed the frantic gestures of the victim.
Despite the risks involved, PC Jackson immediately sprang into action, stopping his vehicle and confronting the two armed men. The victim informed PC Jackson about the weapons carried by the assailants, but that did not deter him from intervening.
Displaying exceptional strength and utilizing his training, PC Jackson managed to disarm and detain both assailants, preventing further harm to the victim and ensuring their apprehension by on-duty response officers.
