A man has been arrested in Dover following allegations of controlling behaviour and assault in a domestic situation, thanks to a tip-off from an off-duty Kent Police officer. The arrest, carried out by officers from the British Transport Police (BTP) Kent, occurred after concerns were raised regarding the treatment of a woman.
The off-duty officer contacted the police late Thursday evening, prompting an immediate response. BTP Kent tweeted, “We have attended an address in the #Dover area to arrest a male on suspicion of controlling & coercive behaviour and common assault domestic related.” The quick action underscores the police’s commitment to addressing domestic violence seriously and promptly.
Following the arrest, authorities have taken steps to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected woman. In order to immediately safeguard the female, we have taken positive action and arrested the male concerned,” BTP Kent stated on social media. They also confirmed that all necessary referrals and support measures have been initiated to assist the woman going forward.
