Tragedy Strikes: Workman Killed in Construction Site Trench Accident

A construction site in Potten End near Hemel Hempstead turned into the scene of a devastating incident as a workman lost his life after becoming trapped in a trench.

Emergency services, including the police, fire brigade, and ambulance crews, rushed to the site just before 11:30 am on Friday following reports of the distressing event.

Upon their arrival, responders found a man trapped within the trench. Despite the valiant efforts of emergency personnel, tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been notified of the incident, indicating an impending investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire police conveyed the sombre news, stating, “Police were called at 11:27 am on Friday, May 3, to assist the ambulance service at the scene of a workplace incident at a construction site in Hempstead Lane, Potten End. It was reported that a man was trapped in a trench. The fire and rescue service also attended but, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the man sadly passed away at the scene. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this sad time.”
