Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an 18-year-old was stabbed near a children’s play area in Chelmsford.
Police responded to Avon Road in Chelmsford at approximately 8:25 pm on Tuesday following reports of a teenager seriously injured in a stabbing incident.
The victim, an 18-year-old male, was rushed to the hospital for treatment. While his condition was initially deemed serious, police have since stated that it is no longer believed to be life-threatening.
Two boys, aged 16 and 17, were apprehended by authorities on suspicion of attempted murder.
Detective Inspector Guy Turnbull expressed gratitude to members of the public who have already come forward with information regarding the incident.

He also sought to reassure the public, stating, “We’d like to assure the public we believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the public.”
Police presence remained at the scene as investigations continued, and authorities appealed to anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage related to the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
The incident has prompted concern within the community, particularly given its proximity to a children’s play area. However, authorities have moved swiftly to address the situation and assure residents of their safety.
