Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo, a 36-year-old dual Spanish Brazilian national residing in Newham E16, has been charged with the murder of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin.
In addition to the murder charge, Monzo faces several other serious charges. These include two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article.
Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith, who is leading the investigation, emphasised the complexity of the case. The investigation involves multiple crime scenes, forensic evidence, extensive CCTV footage, and numerous witnesses. Smith urged patience from the public as officers work diligently to uncover the truth and deliver justice.
“We are starting to piece together what happened on Tuesday,” said Smith. “I want to express my gratitude to those who have come forward with dash-cam, doorbell, and mobile phone footage. Your contributions are invaluable to our investigation.”
Smith also thanked witnesses who, despite their fear, have provided crucial information. He urged anyone else with relevant information to contact the police promptly.
Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo is scheduled to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 2 May.
