In a dramatic turn of events following a tragic incident in Hainault, CCTV footage has emerged showing the brave response of police officers as they confronted a sword-wielding assailant.

The incident unfolded in the aftermath of a ‘random’ attack that resulted in the death of a 14-year-old boy and left two police officers hospitalized with significant injuries.

CCTV footage captured the moment when a female police officer, accompanied by her male colleagues, approached the suspect, who was brandishing a sword, after he vaulted a fence into a driveway in Hainault.

In the video, officers can be seen demanding the suspect, dressed in a yellow hoodie, to put down the weapon. Despite the imminent danger, the unarmed female officer courageously advanced towards the suspect, eventually discharging her Taser in an attempt to subdue him.

Following the deployment of the Taser, armed colleagues swiftly moved in to arrest the suspect, bringing an end to the terrifying ordeal.

The incident unfolded after reports emerged of a van ramming into a home, prompting a police response. Tragically, the rampage claimed the life of a teenage boy, while two other members of the public were injured.

Both Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer have paid tribute to the victims, while King Charles has commended the courage of the officers involved in bringing the attacker to justice.

Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Louisa Rolfe stated that there is currently no evidence of prior police contact with the suspect before the incident.
