Man Charged in Connection with Stabbing of Police Officer in Enfield

James Moore, aged 30, of Aldgate High Street, EC3, was charged with several offences on Wednesday, April 17. These include assault causing grievous bodily harm (wounding with intent), possession of a bladed article (knife), possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (crack cocaine and heroin), and possession of cannabis. Moore is set to appear in custody at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 18.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred at 4.25pm on Tuesday, April 16, when an officer from Enfield responded to reports of a man wielding a knife on Mandeville Road. During the confrontation, the officer was stabbed.

The injured officer received immediate assistance from fellow police colleagues, who administered first aid. He was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he remains under treatment. Thankfully, his condition is reported as stable.

Commander Owain Richards commended the bravery exhibited by the officer, stating, “The actions of this officer demonstrate the best of the Met, showing bravery in dealing with an extremely dangerous situation. It also reminds us of the challenges our officers face each day while doing their duty to protect the public.”
