Serious Collision Closes A14 Westbound in Suffolk

A serious collision occurred in the early hours of this morning, resulting in the closure of the westbound carriageway of the A14 between junctions 44 (Moreton Hall) and 43 (St Saviours). Suffolk Police are currently on the scene, conducting investigation works that are expected to continue throughout the morning peak.

Closure Details

  • Location: A14 westbound, between J44 and J43 near Bury St Edmunds.
  • Reason: Serious collision.
  • Impact: Westbound carriageway closed.
  • Eastbound Carriageway: Initially closed but has since reopened.

Diversion Routes

Road users travelling westbound are advised to follow the diversion route below:

  1. Exit the A14 at J44 (Moreton Hall).
  2. Take the first exit and continue on the A134 to the roundabout with the A1302.
  3. At the roundabout, take the second exit and continue on the A1302 through Bury St Edmunds.
  4. Proceed to the A1302/A143/A1101 roundabout.
  5. Take the second exit onto the A143 and re-join the A14 westbound at J43 (St Saviours).
