“I condemn in the strongest terms the Iranian regime’s reckless attack against Israel,” declared Prime Minister Sunak. “These strikes risk inflaming tensions and destabilising the region. Iran has once again demonstrated that it is intent on sowing chaos in its backyard.”

The United Kingdom remains committed to Israel’s security and that of its regional partners, including Jordan and Iraq. Collaborating closely with allies, the UK government is urgently working to stabilise the situation and prevent further escalation. The goal is to avoid further bloodshed and protect innocent lives.

Meanwhile, Israel has convened its war cabinet to assess the situation and formulate a response. Retired Israeli General Amos Yadlin revealed that the Iranian drones responsible for the attack were equipped with a staggering 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of explosives each.

Both Israel and neighbouring Jordan, which lies between Iraq and Israel, have taken precautionary measures by closing their airspace on Saturday night. The airspace closures aim to prevent any additional attacks and safeguard civilian populations.

In a related development, US intelligence officials anticipate that Iran may launch more than 100 drones, along with dozens of cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. The situation remains highly volatile, and regional security forces are on high alert.
