Emergency services rushed to the scene near Bishops Way in Maidstone town centre following reports of a person possibly falling into the River Medway.
The incident unfolded shortly before 1 p.m., prompting a swift response from both police and the fire service.
Upon arrival, responders discovered clothing at the scene, indicating that someone may have entered the water. However, despite thorough searches, no individual was found.
A spokesperson for the police stated, “We were called at 12:50 p.m. today to a report someone may have fallen into the River Medway, near Bishops Way, Maidstone. Officers attended along with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and an item of clothing was recovered from the scene.
Despite initial concerns, authorities now believe that the report of a person entering the water may have been a false alarm.
