Authorities have made significant progress in the investigation of a cash machine robbery and an aggravated burglary that occurred in the Radford area of Radford, Nottinghamshire two suspects are now in custody following a series of incidents that left victims traumatised.
The ATM Robbery
On the early morning of April 2, a woman dialled 999 after being assaulted shortly after using an ATM on Hartley Road. The victim was struck over the head with a ratchet and kicked repeatedly by one of the assailants. The attacker then fled with £40 in cash that the victim had just withdrawn. Shockingly, the victim’s friend also fell prey to the same criminals during the incident.
The Arrests
Following inquiries, law enforcement apprehended two suspects:
- A 42-year-old woman: She was taken into custody at a nearby property on the same morning as the robbery.
- A 49-year-old man: He was arrested three days later, on April 5.
In addition to the ATM robbery, the suspects are also linked to an aggravated burglary that occurred on March 31 at a flat on Norton Street in Radford. During the burglary, the victims faced a terrifying intrusion into their home.
The female suspect was further arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs, adding another layer of complexity to the case.
Detective Inspector’s Statement
Detective Inspector Julian Eminson-Ferry of Nottinghamshire Police emphasized the seriousness of these incidents. He stated, “We are treating these cases with utmost gravity and are making significant headway in our investigation. Our findings suggest a connection between the ATM robbery and the aggravated burglary, and we believe the victims were acquainted with the perpetrators. Rest assured, there is no broader threat to the public. We remain committed to seeking justice for the victims.”
