Former EastEnders actress Kara Tointon has revealed she suffered a serious injury while performing a stunt for her latest television project, Channel 5’s drama “Too Good To Be True.”

Tointon, renowned for her portrayal of Dawn Swann on the BBC soap opera, disclosed that she tore a ligament during the filming of the Channel 5 drama, leaving her in significant pain.

In an interview with OK! magazine, Tointon expressed her fondness for stunt work, noting her background as a trained gymnast. However, this particular stunt went awry, resulting in her knee buckling and causing her to fall in real pain. It was later diagnosed that she had torn her ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), an essential connective tissue in the knee joint.

Recalling the ordeal, Tointon mentioned her struggle to walk for the final two weeks of filming, lamenting that she couldn’t even partake in the show’s wrap party. Despite her injury, she attempted to dance at the event, demonstrating her determination and resilience.

During her tenure on EastEnders from 2005 to 2009, Kara Tointon played a pivotal role in numerous significant storylines, including her character Dawn Swann’s abduction by Dr. May Wright and Rob Minter. Since departing from the long-running soap opera, she has appeared in various television programs such as “Mr. Selfridge,” “Bedlam,” and “The Halcyon.

Tointon also made a mark on the dance floor when she competed and triumphed in the eighth series of “Strictly Come Dancing” in 2010.

Addressing speculations about her potential return to Albert Square, Tointon indicated to The Sun newspaper that while she appreciates her EastEnders legacy, she is focused on exploring diverse acting opportunities and doesn’t foresee a return to the show.

“EastEnders” airs on BBC One, while “Too Good To Be True” is broadcast on Channel 5.
