Detectives investigating the double homicide of a pregnant woman and her baby will be returning to the scene and the surrounding area to speak with potential witnesses a week after the attack

Detectives investigating the double homicide of a pregnant woman and her baby will be returning to the scene and the surrounding area to speak with potential witnesses a week after the attack. They are also urging members of the public to look closely at CCTV footage of a man seen in Raymead Avenue, Thornton Heath both before and after the attack, which caused the death of Kelly Mary Fauvrelle and her baby son, Riley. They urgently need to trace this man and are asking anyone who may know his identity – or may remember seeing somebody of similar appearance – to contact them. The investigating officers will be in and around Kelly’s address in Raymead Avenue and nearby London Road between 0300hrs and 0400hrs on the morning of Saturday, 6 July, exactly one week after the incident. Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman is leading the investigation. He said: “Although clearly quieter than usual at that time of night, Kelly’s address is close to the busy London Road and there will have been a good number of people in the area at the time of the attack. I am certain there will have been several crucial witnesses among them, and I need these witnesses to contact me. “We have, of course, been speaking to local residents through house to house enquiries and other means, and we are now returning to the scene to speak with potential witnesses who may frequent the area late on Friday and early on Saturday. “Please do speak with officers – either tonight near the scene or by calling the incident room – if you have seen anything that would help me find the person responsible for these two tragic deaths. “Among my primary aims is to identify the man seen on CCTV, walking towards the scene and then running away some 10 minutes later. I am asking members of the public to look very carefully at the footage. “I know there is not a clear image of the man’s face, but I am certain that somebody will recognise this man from his build, his walk, his run and so on. If you may know who he is, please contact police or Crimestoppers. “Equally, and perhaps less obviously, do you recall seeing anyone who could possibly be this man in Thornton Heath, Croydon or perhaps further afield last Friday night or early on Saturday morning? “His identity may not been known to you, but could you have seen him walking, running, on a bus, in a shop, in a takeaway or maybe you drove him as a minicab passenger? Again, if you may have information that will help us establish where he was before and after the attack, I need to hear from you. “Another key aim is to build a complete picture of Kelly’s life and the people with whom she was in contact. I want to hear from anyone who knew Kelly who has not yet spoken to police.” Att around 3.15am on 29 June. Just over 10 minutes later, the same male can be seen running back along Raymead Avenue, away from Kelly’s address, toward Colliers Water Lane. They are urging anyone who may know the man’s identity to contact them. Police were called by London Ambulance Service (LAS) at 3.30am on Saturday, 29 June to reports of a woman in cardiac arrest inside an address on Raymead Avenue in Thornton Heath. Officers attended along with LAS and found 26-year-old Kelly Mary Fauvrelle suffering from stab injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, she sadly died at the scene. Kelly was eight months’ pregnant. Her baby boy, who her family has named Riley, was delivered by LAS at the scene before being taken to hospital. He died at 3.10am on Wednesday, 3 July. Kelly was murdered in her bedroom at the family home. The family were present but they did not see the attacker. Kelly’s sister found her, having heard screams. The bedroom was on the ground floor, and a cot had been set up for her unborn baby. There was no sign of forced entry but the house may not have been secure. A 37-year-old man  and a 29-year-old man were arrested on Saturday, 29 June and Sunday, 30 June, on suspicion of murder.  one has been released with no further action. ‘The second man has been bailed to a date in August. DCI Norman continues to appeal for any witnesses, CCTV footage or anyone with any information at all that could assist, to come forward. He said: “A dedicated team of detectives are working day and night on this investigation. “We have assured Kelly’s family – and I want to assure local residents and the wider public too – that we are doing absolutely everything in our power to find the person responsible. “I am aware that there is some speculation about whether Kelly’s attacker was known to her. At this stage we simply are not in a position to say and we must retain an open mind. “One of the key aims of my investigation is to build a complete picture of Kelly’s life and the people with whom she was in contact. I want to hear from anyone who knew Kelly who has not yet spoken to police. “We are in contact with the baby’s father, who has been with Kelly’s family since her death. “I also need to consider other possible scenarios and we will be continuing forensic work at the family home for at least a week. We have not recovered a weapon at this time. “Members of the public may have useful information, and I am today reiterating my appeal for anyone who may know anything that will assist the investigation to make contact as soon as possible.” Anyone with any information should contact police on the dedicated incident room number of 020 8721 4005, or ring 101 quoting CAD 1358/29 Jun. Alternatively, to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
