Chaos erupted in Fleetwood on Tuesday afternoon when a marked police van smashed into a BMW 220D in a nasty head-on collision. The crash happened at the busy junction of Princes Way and Rossall Grange Lane, sparking a swift emergency response.
Emergency Lights Flash as Injuries Reported
- The smash occurred at 2:59 PM on September 30th.
- The police van was driving with emergency lights flashing.
- An elderly woman in her 80s, driving the BMW, suffered a chest injury and remains in hospital.
- A passenger, also an older woman, was treated at the scene and released.
- The police officer behind the wheel suffered an arm injury and is receiving hospital treatment.
- Two other officers in the van escaped unharmed.
Probe Launched as Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been notified, as standard in incidents involving police vehicles. Lancashire Police have offered no further comment while the investigation continues.
