Emergency crews rushed to Penkridge railway station at around 6.30am on October 2 after reports of a person on the tracks. Despite efforts by officers and paramedics, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

Disruption Hits Stafford to Wolverhampton Line

The tragedy forced the closure of train lines between Stafford and Wolverhampton, causing “major disruption” to services running from London Euston. Even more than five hours later, delays and cancellations continued as rail operators worked to resume normal service.

Police Confirm No Suspicion

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just before 6.30am today (2 October) at Penkridge railway station. Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
