Car Transporter Goes Up in Flames
Emergency crews rushed to the scene at 6.38am on Wednesday after a car transporter carrying nine electric cars burst into flames. The vehicles are believed to be from Chinese electric car maker BYD.
“We were called at 6.38am to reports of a vehicle fire on the M5 between junctions 28 and 29. On arrival, a car transporter carrying nine electric vehicles was fully involved in fire,” said a spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.
Major Delays as Clean-Up Continues
- Recovery and clean-up efforts are ongoing.
- Highways England confirm the motorway will stay shut while emergency services clear the blaze safely.
- Motorists are urged to avoid the area and expect heavy delays.
