Caught Red-Handed in Sillwood Road
Brighton police have cracked down on drug crime, locking up Endri Lamaj, 23, after a swift investigation. Officers launched their probe on 4 August following reports of drug dealing in the Sillwood Road area. Using nearby CCTV footage, they identified Lamaj and found him the very next day on John Street.
Dealer Caught with Class A Drugs and Cash
Lamaj, who has no fixed address, was tailed by officers and arrested under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. During a search, he confessed and even offered cops Class A drugs. They seized 11 bags of cocaine and a large haul of cash, leading to his immediate detention on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
Quick Justice Delivered
Charged in the early hours of 6 August, Lamaj appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court the same day. He pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court on 3 September and was sentenced to two years behind bars, cutting down drug supply in the city.
Police Praise Community Efforts
Chief Inspector Simon Marchant said: “The local community played a vital role in providing intelligence that enabled officers to apprehend Lamaj and remove him from the streets. Drug dealing brings disruption, fuels anti-social behaviour, and creates insecurity within the community. Patrols remain ongoing, and we urge residents to report suspicious activity. Together, we can continue to keep our streets safe.”
