Two seasoned criminals have been jailed following a daring smash-and-grab at a mobile phone Shopshop in england/england/worthing/”>worthing/”>Worthing. Robert Jody May, 51, and Joseph Perry, 42, broke into the Three store on Montague Street, stealing phones and accessories Worthworth Overover £36,000.

Brazen Hole-Drilling Break-In Caught on CCTV

On the night of March 6, May drilled through the wall of a neighbouring property to reach the stock room, while Perry kept watch outside. Police nailed the pair after CCTV showed Perry lurking around the Town Centretown centre hours before the crime, then both men loading bags into a waiting taxi.

Three Years Each for Career Offenders

The Worthing CID’s hard work led to their arrest and prosecution at Lewes Crown Court. Both men were convicted of burglary and handed down three-year prison sentences.

May, from Southwick’s Whiterock Place, boasts a criminal record with over 50 convictions across 200 offences, many burglaries, and 25 known aliases. Perry, from Northbrook’s Whitebeam Road, has 22 convictions for 57 offences, mostly theft-related.

Detective Inspector: “Crime Doesn’t Pay”

“Both men went to great lengths to steal mobile phones and accessories in Worthing,” said Detective Inspector Andrew Ricks of Worthing CID. “We understand the impact burglary has on victims and businesses. I’m pleased these prolific offenders are now behind bars.”

This case proves how CCTV, forensic work, and dogged detective work can smash shop burglary rings. A win for local businesses and law enforcement alike.
