Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a shop with flats above on Bedford Hill in Balham in the early hours

Part of the basement roof was damaged by fire. A gas cylinder was also destroyed by the blaze and two further gas cylinders were removed as a precaution as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat. There were no reports of any injuries.
