Gosport home gutted after Bedroom Fire
A family have been left without a home after it’s believed a fire broke out in a bedroom in Gosport this afternoon.
Fire crews from Gosport and Fareham were called to the house in Albert Street just after 3pm on Monday afternoon. Three appliances and an aerial ladder platform from Southsea also attended to deal with a severe fire in the bedroom. A water carrier from Fareham was also sent to the scene.
The first crew on the scene was from Gosport and the incident commander quickly established there were no people inside the property.
Firefighting crews battled flames that ripped through the top floor of the Gosport home and stopped them from spreading to neighbouring properties.
The fire, wrecked a first floor bedroom and had spread to the part of the roof, but was quickly brought under control by 3.30pm.

Eight fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and two high pressure jets to tackle the rapidly developed fire. Positive pressure ventilation fans were used to clear smoke from the property.”
The attending crews from the four fire stations were praised for stopping the fire from spreading and could have turned into a “significant incident” by fire boss.
Albert Street was cordoned off by Police officers whilst the fire was dealt with. Two neighbouring properties were also evacuated.
The Fire and Emergency Support vehicle manned by the Red Cross were also sent to offer welfare and support to the occupiers.

Crews worked very hard to bring the fire under control as quickly they did” Mr Deacon went on to say The fire, had damaged first floor bedroom and had spread to parts of the roof.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
