A suspected drug-driver has been arrested after a woman in her 50s was hit and killed by a van in Swanley

Witnesses and dashcam footage are sought following a fatal collision in Swanley. At around 9am on Tuesday 16 January 2024, a white Ford Transit 100 was travelling along Bartholomew Way towards the roundabout at the junction with Swanley Lane, when it was involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where the pedestrian, a woman in her 50s, was confirmed deceased. A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and driving whilst under the influence of drugs. He has since been bailed pending further investigation.

Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicle beforehand to call the SCIU witness appeal line on 01622 798538 or email [email protected] quoting HW/DGC/005/24.
